  • Currently, I am working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of CSE/IT/ICT, PIT Vadodara. I did my graduate studies (M.Tech (RA)) at the Department of CSE, IIT Hyderabad, under the guidance of Dr Sathya Peri. My research work is oriented towards Parallel and Distributed Computing: STMs and Blockchain Design. I would like working with passionate people and sharing what I have learned with them.

Research Topic - Software Transactional Memory (STMs) and Blockchain Design.

  • ACADEMIC PROJECTS

    (1) Master's Thesis - Starvation Freedom in Software Transactional Memory System (STMs)

Supervisor - Dr Sathya Peri, Department of CSE, IIT Hyderabad

Objective - STM is one of the parallel programming paradigms which avoids concurrency overhead at programmer level, it will execute code optimistically, means local read/write phase and Validation (tryCommit) after successful validation transaction will commit. Starvation free STMs will have greater throughput compare to STMs.

    Status - Successfully Completed.

    (2) Implementing BFS-based Traversals of RDF Graphs over MapReduce Efficiently

Objective - An approach for efficiently implementing traversals of RDF graphs over MapReduce
that is based on the Breadth First Search (BFS) strategy for visiting (RDF) graphs to be decomposed and processed according to the "MapReduce framework". When data sets become unpractical to be processed by traditional tools like DBMS.
Tech. used - Hadoop | JAVA
    Status - Successfully Completed.

    (3) Beyond Bags of Features: Spatial Pyramid Matching for Recognizing Natural Scene Categories

Objective - A method for recognizing scene categories based on approximate global geometric correspondence. This technique works by partitioning the image into increasingly fine sub-regions and computing histograms of local features found inside each sub-region scene categories. The resulting "spatial pyramid" is a simple and computationally efficient extension of an orderless bag-of-features image representation.
    Tech. used - Matlab
    Status - Successfully Completed.

    (4) Modeling and Verification of Priority Assignment in Real-Time Databases

Objective - Real-time database management systems (RTDBMS) are recently subject of an intensive research. Model checking algorithms and verification tools are of great concern for priority assignment in real-time databases using "Uppaal". Uppaal is a verification tool for real-time systems.
    Tech. used - Uppaal
    Status - Successfully Completed.

    (5) Peer-to-Peer Networks for Content Sharing

Objective - Peer-to-peer (P2P) systems are popularly used as "file-swapping" networks to support distributed content sharing. We have used the Hybrid model to design this Peer-to-Peer content sharing application and have maintained a server to track all the clients in the network.
Tech. used - JAVA | MS Access Database.
    Status - Successfully Completed.

  • INDUSTRIAL PROJECTS

Title: An Efficient Middleware based on Multiversion Transactional Memory System for Multi-Core Systems. (ANURAG - DRDO) HYD.

Description: It is a C++ based software transactional memory library providing an abstraction for parallel
programming. In this middleware, we implemented efficient STM which used multi-version concurrency control protocols and evaluated against the synchrobench benchmark with lazy and fine-grained linked list versions.

Title: An Efficient Software Framework for High-Performance Computing Systems (HiPC Systems). (BRNS - DOAE) MBI.

Description: In this project, we use the in-house STM based on SGT and BTO protocols to implement
applications like concurrent list and real-world graph problems like graph colouring. We
showed the efficacy of the framework developed by comparing against the Synchrobench
    benchmark for the concurrent list.

  • My Motto

'If you believe, you can achieve'

It's important to celebrate your failures as much as your successes. If you celebrate your failures really well, and if you get to the motto and say, 'Wow, I failed, I tried, I was wrong, I learned something,' then you realize you have no fear, and when your fear goes away, you can move the world.
